Hi, I’m using Firefox 2.0 and I’m not seeing the option to add the library’s catalogue to my search bar. Thanks.

Did you check when you are on the catalogue home page? That is where it appears. The button/icon to the left of the search field turns blue to indicate the availability of an installable browser search option. If you go to the catalogue home page link above and you do not see that this button is highlighted in blue, then I am not sure what is going on. Also, please verify that you are in fact using Firefox 2 (Help/About Mozilla Firefox) and tell me what operating system you are using and I will look into it. Thanks.

Yes, I’m using Firefox 2.0 and I am checking on the catalogue home page. Also, I’m using Windows XP. The button to the left of the search field does not turn blue and I do not see the option to add the CL search plug-in. I have two other library catalog search plug-ins installed already and I’m wondering if that has anything to do with the problem. I also have Greasemonkey installed. Any ideas? Thanks.

  4. Mike Says:

Your setup is exactly the same as mine here, including having greasemonkey installed. And having other libraries installed should not have any impact on this. The only thing I can think of is that your browser can’t resolve the domain that the search plugin references? But if you can successfully follow this link, then that is not the problem.

  5. Richard Says:

Thanks for the help. I can follow the link you gave and I’m still not seeing the option to add your catalog search plug-in. I’ll keep trying to figure out what’s wrong on my end. Regardless, it’s a very nice feature you’re providing.

  6. Mike Says:

I’m sorry I can’t provide any more insight into why you can’t install it. Thanks and I hope you figure out what the problem is.

  7. Richard Says:

Okay, I played around with all my Firefox add-ons and I figured out what was causing the problem. When I disabled my “Browster extension,” I was able to see the option to add your search plug-in. For some reason, enabling Browster causes problems.

  8. Mike Says:

Thanks, that’s good to know. I will look into Browster so I can advise others if this happens in the future.
